The Netherlands

I really love my home country The Netherlands or also known as Holland.
It has many beautiful sightings and a very great and old history. A couple of weeks ago I went to the city of Enkhuizen in the North. I went there together with my family and made a nice walk in an old and historical part of the town.

The pictures below are a small glimpse of what you can see over there.

An Old Gas Station

I really like to walk around on construction areas because sometimes you can really find interesting subjects to photograph.
Take this old gas station for example. It has been used for many years now while it was located beside a main road between two towns.
People who travelled between ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Vught could pass by the tankstation and tank or buy some drinks, food and other things.

At this moment the whole area is a construction site and the old road is completely moved. Fornunately, they haven’t broken down the old gas station. It is completely restored, moved from it’s location and used by a company called Emma Solutions.  This ICT company from ‘s-Hertogenbosch uses the gas station as a meetingplace to present new, creative and innovative concepts to their customers.

The next pictures are taken during my evening walk.

Dutch Surf Culture

I have been surfing for about 17 years now and I have traveled to a some nice places in Europe, California and Costa Rica. However most times I just go to our own Dutch coast. Because we also have some nice waves to surf! There are many people surfing at the moment and there is even a nice Dutch surf culture.

Taking pictures of the Dutch surfing culture is really a interesting theme for me! And I do love retro style photographs!

Pays Basque

It has been a while that I have visited The French Basque country..

About twelve years ago I discovered the area around the French town of Biarritz. As a great fan of travelling and surfing I am always thinking and searching for perfect places and waves. So I went to the southwest of France for a camping trip with my dad. Since the first time we arrived in Bidart, a small town two kilometres south of biarritz,  I have found the whole Basque coast as one of the best travel spots I have ever been to!

From Anglet and Biarritz to Bidart and Saint Jean de Luz you can found many different beautiful and typical Basque towns and villages. The coast is quite rocky and has many bays. If your journey passes the Spanish border you will see a coastline comparable with California – steep rocks and a beautiful ocean.

The people are very nice and welcoming. There are great shopping streets and the food and wine are great! And if you are looking for great Euro surf you should definetely go to the French Basque coast! There are a great amount of spots that you can found along the coast!

Here are some images I have taken during my eight trips to Biarritz.
